Tungsten Carbide Rolls

Tungsten carbide offers the highest level of wear resistance of all roll materials. As with tool steels, grades are chosen for physical characteristics, including wear resistance, toughness, heat resistance as well as non-magnetic properties.

Smaller rolls can be solid carbide or, to reduce cost, areas of high wear can be inserted with carbide segments. Segmented rolls are finish machined and polished to provide seamless transitions with adjacent roll surfaces.
